Grades 6–8

Grade 6 is the last year before intermediate grades, and a key time to secure number sense and reading skills.

Grade 7 brings more abstract math and longer writing tasks. Many students notice the jump in workload.

Grade 8 prepares students for high school. It's a great year to strengthen foundations and study habits.

Grade 9 is the transition to secondary school, with new teachers, routines, and expectations.

Grade 10 courses shape future pathways, and many students write the literacy requirement assessment around this time.

Grade 11 marks begin to matter for post-secondary planning, and courses become more specialized.

Grade 12 combines demanding courses with post-secondary applications. Steady support can reduce stress.
